Joel Schmitz serves as the VP of Compliance for Belpointe Asset Management, where he arrived in 2021 after accumulating more than 20 years of compliance experience in the financial services industry. He and Belena work closely on all things compliance within the Belpointe community.
Joel started his career as a financial advisor with American Express Financial Advisors and later moved to FourSquare Financial Group/ K2 Advisory Group where he served as the Director of Compliance & Financial Planning. He has a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Joel lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he stays active with Crossfit, hiking with his dog, coaching his two sons, and visiting the U.S. National Parks with his family. He’s also a devoted follower of University of Wisconsin athletics.
